Rod and The Tonemasters

Surf Music

Rod Del Campos
Guitarist, Composer

Born and raised in Southern California, Rod Del Campos' interest in rock music became apparent in grammar school when his father bought him a guitar to "keep him out of trouble." He soon began performing at class functions and other such venues. He began seeking out his musical roots, and being a San Fernando Valley kid, he focused on teaching himself surf music. Eventually he formed "The Eliminators" - a cool roots surf band.

After this, Rod became interested in rockabilly and eventually, the blues. He bagan playing the local circuit, jamming and performing with the likes of "The James Harmon Band" - Hubert Tubbs (Tower of Power), Levi (Levi and the Rockcats) and various members of "The Blasters." The blues and boogie tunes featured here were performed with Jeff Scranton (harp and vocals), Eric Hall (Drums) and Andy Houseman (Bass).

The surf songs were performed by "Rod and the Tonemasters." In addition to Rod, Bob Arkwright (via Pittsburgh and Nashville) beat the skins and John Peris (punker from birth) added the edgy bass.
